It's been a rough couple of weeks with Samantha. She got a cold on Halloween that turned into the worst bout of bronchitis ever. She's been out of school for a week and a half and will be out for at least one more week. Our doctor wanted her isolated for her own safety. She's happy, but driving me insane.

She misses her friends and they miss her very much. I'm hoping she gets to go back after Thanksgiving.

On Monday, we'll be going to a Pediatric Gastroenterologist. Our thought (mine and two doctors) is that Samantha is aspirating into her lungs, which is causing the congestion and flare-ups. She's on an acid reducer, but still continues to aspirate by choking on her food or drink. It's a nasty cycle that will continue and prevents her from returning to school unless we can stop it. So we'll see what this new doctor has to say.

The poor girl is a good sport and completely unafraid of doctors, but should not be on mountains of medication every day.

Alyssa is well and happy. She's graduated from her high chair to a booster seat at the kitchen table. She's was so excited that she sat in the chair for hours the first day. Every time we attempted to get her out she cried and threw a fit. She's learning how to eat with a fork and spoon, but really doesn't have much patience for it. She figures if she squeaks enough someone will do it for her. Alyssa is talking some, but we're still working on the pleases and thank yous.

Al has started Team in Training and ran 8 miles today. That is his furthest yet. He's very dedicated to this, which is impressive. He has to get up early on Saturday mornings and he's out late on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but hasn't complained a bit. Today he's going to attempt his first ice bath to help relieve some of the pain in his legs. Should be interesting!

I'm just working and trying to keep my head on straight with Samantha's medical issues and her home with me. It's challenging and most days I'm on my last straw, but still surviving.
